Bonjour!

Hi there! Welcome to the "French Phrases" section!

Here, you can find how you can deliver daily expressions, such as "How are you?" or "Where do you live" in French, a world language very well known for its grace and beauty.

Memorise all the expressions available here, and give them a try when you meet a real French speaker later around you! Please note that these expressions are in formal style.

I would like to thank my friends in the About.com French forum, who had helped me to complete the translations and made the availability of the French section on my website possible. =)

GUIDE ON PRONUNCIATION:

French is among European languages which have beautiful, yet difficult pronunciation. The pronunciation guide that I give in the bracket, thus, is no more than just a mere approximation. It's of course at best to listen directly to a speaking French. =)

Here are hints on how to understand my pronunciation guide:

      1.      The “a” here should be always read like the “a” in “father”.

2.      “é” is read as a short and clear sound like the “a” in “track”

3.   "è" is read like the first "e" in "tremendous" or the "e" in "rather"

3.      The first “r” must always be trilled on the faring.

4.      “ng:” isn’t read as a clear “ng” sound like in “swimming” or “killing”, but rather as an unclear one.
